Pineapple Lily (Species) Giant Pineapple Lily in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Eucomis pallidiflora subsp. pole-evansii

Pineapple Lily (Species) Giant Pineapple Lily

Eucomis is a flowering bulbous perennial with a distinctive tuft of leaves above a column of tiny flowers. The leaves are strap-shaped. The flowers come in a range of mostly pastel colours - white, creams, yellows, mauves, and pinks. The flowering season is from late Summer to Autumn. The 'Giant Pineapple Lily' is from South Africa and Swaziland, and is the largest form of Eucomis known, with spires of tiny creamy-white flowers with green centres, that can reach up to 2 m. tall, and leaves that can be up to a metre long. Due to its height, it may need staking
