The garden appears to be putting on its Sunday best 😀. These #Muscari flowers are emerging, not quite fully open yet, as per it's name this one exhibits two colours (light #blue top, dark blue mauve at bottom). It's a wide leafed type too, unlike others. #muscari-latifolium #grapehyacinth

Love muscari i know people get anoyed with it & moan it's invasive but for spring colour i think it's a must @richard.spicer.7906 😉

It does have this stigma about it @gardenhoe , but this is the first time I've grown this particular species and I like it. Not sure if it's as invasive as Muscari armeniacum but will read up and check. I've got these in pots and they are looking great!

Due to the weather, I've now resorted to planting my bulb pots up after work in the garage! A couple of weeks back I decided I would try planting my smaller bulbs up in pots. My aim with this, hopefully, is to 1) achieve a finer specimen display; and 2) prevent the small numbers I purchased from getting lost within my borders. This one is a broad leaved species variety of the Grape Hyacinth - Muscari latifolium. An RHS AGM winner. I've planted them using the same technique as my crocuses

Good idea. It's so hard to keep track of what's in the ground!

I've tried using labels but too fiddly. And some things self seed anyway so I never know what's going on! Leads to some nice surprises though 😀
