You are so lucky; these are not cut out for life in Zone 6...

@emch A lot won’t grow well here because it’s so very humid, hot, and way too rainy! But tropicals do very well so I’ve been focusing on growing more of those. 💚

So many #gardenia blooms today! I could only get a small portion in the shot.

Beautiful and love the way they smell! Are they hard to grow?

What a great flower. They smell amazing. Years ago there was a perfume called “Jungle Gardenia”. The aroma was very close to this flower. Looks very healthy and happy 😊💕

@Susanandsteve Isn’t it lovely?! It’s one of my favorite shrubs because it is so easy to grow! Although, this shrub was already well-established when I moved here. Gardenias just grow well in Florida, when given enough sun.

@Susanandsteve although... I do have another gardenia bush that has stayed small in the decade we’ve been here. It’s in too much shade and I’ve never done anything to it because I don’t want to lose what is there. I wonder what it needs. Everything I guess.. since it’s been ignored other than occasional watering. 😄😄

This is one of my #Gardenia shrubs, and it’s a big one! Maybe 7 feet tall and wide. It’s all so uniformly green, so it’s hard to see, but there are lots of buds getting ready to sprout. I have another planted in too much shade, and it’s stayed small for many years. This one gets great sun and always gets a lot of blooms, a few different times a year. They don’t last very long, but the smell is so incredible!!

@SikoMa One of my lifelong favorites, also! The smell of them always reminds me of being a little kid, when my mother would send me to school with a handful of gardenia cuttings to give to my teacher. 😊😊 It’s one of my only plants that I will regularly get cuttings from when in bloom. Just a couple of clipped flowers brought in will smell amazing through my whole house. I love it.
