Propagation by cuttings
From Mid Autumn TO Late Autumn
Tip cuttings, about 8 cm in length, can be taken in autumn or spring with a sharp knife. Plant the cuttings in a well-aerated medium, such as coarse river sand. Place the container in a warm, but partially shaded area, and keep the soil moist. Check when roots appear at the drainage holes before transplanting in a sandy, loamy soil.
Planting young plants
From Early Spring TO Early Spring
Smicrostigma is ideal for planting in well-drained rockeries. They need a sandy, loamy soil and should be planted initially in partial shade untill established when they can be moved to a sunny site. If night time temperatures fall below 5C, they are best planted in containers as conservatory plants.
