Prunus Serrulata 'Shirofugen'

Japanese Cherry Tree 'Shirofugen'

Prunus serrulata, or Japanese Flowering Cherry, is a small deciduous tree that bears clusters of pink or white flowers in Spring at the same time the leaves emerge. Grown for the display of blossom, the tree also gives Autumn interest when the leaves turn to shade of yellow, orange and red. 'Shirofugen' has fragrant white double blooms with tinges of pink on the reverse of the petals, that open from pink buds, and as the flowers mature they become pale pink

Planting

From Early Spring TO Early Spring

Cherries prefer deep, fertile and well-drained soil with pH 6.5-6.7. They dislike shallow, sandy or badly drained soils. Acid cherries tolerate some shade and are suitable as fan-trained trees against north-facing walls or fences, or as open centred bush trees. Best planted in full sunlight.

Flowering

From Early Spring TO Late Spring

Flowering cherries produce their wonderfully abundant display of flowers in Spring
