Cherry-plum 'Gypsy'
Prunus cerasifera, or Cherry-plum, is a small deciduous tree or shrub native to south east Europe and western Asia. It is one of the earliest to come into blossom in the late Winter or early Spring, with white flowers which are followed by edible yellow or red cherry-like plums in late Summer, Makes a good hedging plant. The flowers are attractive to pollinating insects, and the fruit are attractive to birds. 'Gypsy' is a modern Cherry Plum that flowers later than most cherry=plums, and bears large red fruit with orange flesh in late Summer. The fruit can be eaten straight from the tree, or are good for jam-making and other culinary uses
