Wood bitter-vetch

Lathyrus linifolius is a short to medium erect plant with winged stems. It has two to four pairs of leaflets which are linear to and ending in a point, not a tendril. The flowers are crimson-pink, turning bluish and then pale, in long racemes. Pods are reddish brown. Its natural habitat is rough grassy places usually found in broad-leaved woodland, forest margins, hedgerows and banks.

Planting young plants

From Mid Spring TO Mid Spring

Plant out in mid-spring in full sun or in partial shade providing support for the plants to reach their maximum height. Against a wall or fence is ideal otherwise, the plants will scramble along the ground and may not show to their full colourful potential. They need a light and well drained soil for best results.
