Globularia are mostly evergreen, mat-forming perennials. They have lance or spoon-shaped leaves, and in Summer bear fluffy flower-heads of tiny lavender-blue flowers. Globularia sarcophylla is a rare plant that is endemic to Gran Canaria, where it is confined to basalt mountain cliffs of the Caldera de Tirajana, Los Leales, La Culata etc. around heights of 1,600 m. It has small, obovate, fleshy leaves, around 2 cm long, and blue flower-heads.

Propagating by seed
From Early Spring TO Mid Spring
Sow seeds in a pot or tray filled with proprietary seed-sowing compost, or a 50/50 mix of multi-purpose compost and perlite or coarse grit. Sow large seeds with space between the seeds, and sow small seeds thinly, and cover the seeds with a thin layer of sieved compost (unless it is a type of seed that needs light to germinate). Water gently with a fine rose on the watering-can, allowing excess water to drain away.
