Dregea Sinensis syn. Wattakaka sinensis

Dregea are evergreen shrubs. They have twining stems and pairs of oval leaves. They bear clusters of small, fragrant flowers. Dregea Sinensis - or Chinese Dregea = has D. sinensis has leaves with hairs underneath. The flowers are white, speckled with purple, and fragrant - rather like hoya flowers - and are sometimes followed by bean-like seed pods

Flowering

From Early Summer TO Late Summer

The small fragrant flowers appear through Summer, and are sometimes followed by bean-like pods

Planting

From Early Spring TO Late Spring

Plant in well-draining oil or compost in a warm and sheltered site in mild areas, or indoors, or in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in cooler climes.

Propagating by seed

From Early Spring TO Late Spring

Sow seeds in a pot or tray filled with proprietary seed-sowing compost, or a 50/50 mix of multi-purpose compost and perlite or coarse grit. Sow large seeds with space between the seeds, and sow small seeds thinly, and cover the seeds with a thin layer of sieved compost (unless it is a type of seed that needs light to germinate). Water gently with a fine rose on the watering-can, allowing excess water to drain away.
