Feather Reed Grass Avalanche in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Calamagrostis 'Avalanche'

Feather Reed Grass 'Avalanche'

A clump forming grass with bending leaves, it bears tall clusters of flowers that start off green, then turn to bronze and eventually fade to a buff colour. 'Avalanche' has green leaves with white and pinkish stripe. Greenish mauve plumes appear in early summer which change to wheat cokes as they age. Keep these on for winter interest and remove in early spring as new growth appears.
