Decided to repot my group of six #mesagarden #lithops into individual 3" pots because some of them aren't doing so well, and their individual needs have to be cared for without harming their neighbors. @terrimclaughlin yes, it's true. You have to invest a lot of time learning about what they like, because they're very prone to rot. Sometimes they just die suddenly and you never know why. And the soil ingredients they need are hard to find.

I am seriously in love with the tan colors of this #lithopsotzeniana from #mesagarden -- I'd seen a photo of a #lithops with this coloration on Google images, and couldn't tell if the plant really WAS these colors or if it was enhanced in Photoshop, and I for sure couldn't figure out which otzeniana it was. So I emailed the photo to Mesa Garden and told them to send whatever they had that looked most like the photo.
And when it arrived in the mail it did not have this tan color I was expecting/hoping for, so I was disappointed and thought "oh well, they tried." And then slowly it began to absorb the old leaves and the new leaves emerged more and more, and when I looked at it today I realized THIS IS THE ONE AFTER ALL, and all I'd needed to do was wait for the colors and #newgrowth to develop in the sunshine.
I'm sure this is an object lesson in faith and patience. Discovering that I've already had for months the plant I'd sought... I feel like I just got a surprise present from God. I behave as if he can't be trusted with my deepest longings, but then he goes and does something as tender and playful as this (and my life would have been 100% fine without this plant), so maybe it's about time I start trusting him with the big things that really matter.

No before-and-after for this #lithopsotzeniana because I didn't really notice much difference from the morning, but it seems like maybe the sun has bleached a line across the center of the new leaves? Either that or it's dirt. Baby leaves are getting so chubby and plump. No water for this big boy. He and his #mesagarden friends are in a clear plastic pot of pure pumice and the inside of the pot shows some condensation even though I never put any water in it. Hoping that'll be enough for root...
