I am a city gardner in zone 5/6. Dramatic temp swings in this area with cold winters, and hot summers. Love to grow my own fruit and veggies!

I think they would grow quite well in wet southern soil, hardiness zones 5-8 I do believe @cyndi

What's it's story? Not an evergreen?

Nope, an evergreen that loses its leaves!! A tree that lived with dinosaurs!! @columbiariver

I just had a look at some of the others. Very nice. Maybe I'll see one someday. Have, another piece of good info I just discovered when reading about my big leaf maples. They produce syrup! I hadn't a clue. They're not as productive as your sugar maples, but the procedure is exactly the same. Cool, huh?

Wicked cool!! There are 10 varieties of acer that you can collect sap and make syrup from. Have fun!! @columbiariver

You have a much longer tap season out west. Starts right when the leaves fall and runs till spring I believe Laura. @columbiariver
