Attempting induced bulb propagation. 🤞🏼 it will work. Two methods here, the one on the right is bulb scooping (where the basal plate is scooped out) and the one on the right is bulb scoring (where you instead score the basal plate with a sharp knife) - these are going in the utility cupboard indoors now for a couple of months, with a cover to prevent the sand from drying out and causing desiccation of the bulbs #bulb #bulb-propagation #bulb-scooping #bulb-scoring #hyacinth #hyacinthus
Is his how prepared hyacinth bulbs come from? I bought some white ones last year but planted them outside as I didn't realise they're for flowering inside.
Hey Urszula, prepared bulbs are just those that have had a period of treatment (eg chilling) before being sold to induce growth earlier for indoor growing purposes. What I’m doing here instead is bulb propagation - Hyacinths don’t divide/multiple very well naturally so this is a way of increasing stock 😄 @ublaszko
Indeed - I’m hoping it works Wes, as first time trying it. Trying to avoid them going mouldy so looking for fungicides at the moment that are available to use @wesleybrian
Hi Richard, we always put them without dirt, in a special glass vessel where the bulb wouldn't touch the water, put them away cool and dark Works like a charm. Roots will grow towards water.

It'll be cool to see how this turns out

I hope it works for you Rich, it’s a beautiful colour 💛💛
I see! Very clever 👍 Good luck!
