I’m certain this mystery Eucomis is now the cultivar called ‘Lotte’ - the previous photo I posted a couple of weeks ago showed the striping on the underside of the leaves, and today the flowers are opening to these fantastic crisp white colour with deep purple centres - quite I contrast considering I’d originally ordered a different Eucomis. But a welcome surprise 👏🏼 #eucomis #eucomis-comosa #eucomiscomosalotte #pineapplelily

This was bought as species Eucomis vandermerwei, but it don’t look anything like it as that one is flatter with darker crinkly foliage. I’d already noticed the error last year but I didn’t post any updates since planting the original bulb. I think - looking at what other Eucomis types that nursery sold - I may have got a stray bulb of Eucomis ‘Lotte’ instead. Characteristic pattern is striping on the underside of the leaves, others are plain or spotted. Flower spike is coming so we....
(Cont) can see what the colour is soon. I’m gonna remove the plant label for now until I can ID it. Guess I’ll have to find a new supplier for the original species one that I wanted 😕 #eucomis #pineapplelily #eucomis-comosa #eucomiscomosalotte
Old photo - just adding some of my missing Pineapple Lily specimens to the plant database. This is a species one - Eucomis vandermerwei. It's dwarf with very blotched leaves. Planted in a pot on 2nd April 2017.
Update - this was not Eucomis vandermerwei and ended up being Eucomis comosa ‘Lotte’ #eucomis #bulb #eucomis-comosa #eucomiscomosalotte #pineapplelily
