I love gardening, particularly wildlife and GYO. I have an addiction when it comes to buying plants. I only wish I could spend more time indulging!
Morning everyone! #callicarpa in flower, hopefully this will mean a lovely winter display of berries, although I may give it a prune after its flowered.
Morning Richard. My Mum has this shrub ....very pretty flower and berry. Not long pruned it for her 👋😎💜
Morning Richard pretty dainty flowers too 💖
Morning Richard, I’m new to this one, I didn’t realise it needed pruning after flowering 🤔🤔
I don’t think you have to Jane, mine is just not behaving itself and the best time to prune is after flowering (so the rhs says anyway). 🤞 @pelly
Thanks Richard, I’ll have a read about it. This is it’s first year so I doubt I’ll need to prune yet. 👍👍👍
Definitely Jane, I probably wouldn’t in it’s first year, let it establish. As I say, I’m only doing it out of necessity! 😊 @pelly
So pretty 💗💛💗
These are so pretty! Wish we could grow them here!
Another one that I have. It seems quite slow to get started...
Hello Richard, interesting shrub, very nice tiny flowers and it provides winter colour. I will look for it in my local garden centre.
My one was slow for the first few years Suzy. But it seems to have picked up now! @suzyw
Morning everyone! Hidden all summer behind the crocosmia now unleashed upon autumn #callicarpa
Morning Richard, I love this, but I have a 2yr old granddaughter who likes to wander in the garden, so I may have to wait a while to get one. 💜💜💜
Morning Jane. Better to be safe than sorry! I’ve not heard that these are poisonous but I suspect they don’t taste very good! @pelly
Morning how lovely 💜💜💜
I've just had a look and you are right. I was lead to believe they were highly toxic by someone on here. Thanks for putting me right, I can look for one now. Happy days 😀😀😀
Lol cyndi! I still might give it a try though, I do like a challenge! @cyndi
Morning Richard ......such pretty berries. My Mum has this shrub ......I've been tempted to buy one for years but have no room really :))
That's gorgeous is it right that you need 2 plants for it to produce berries 😊
No Angie, I’ve only got one plant! @angiecrazycatlady
Really I might have to get myself one if i can find a space to squeeze it in 😁
I want one too.....💟💟
