Morning everyone 🙋♀️ My Indian Summer still has quite a few flowers looking like this, I’m not sure they will this morning as we’ve had a very hard frost overnight. Keep warm and enjoy the last day of the year safely ❄️ #alstromeria-indian-summer #peruvian-lily-indian-summer #still-flowering
Morning everyone, have a good day 🙋♀️. I thought this Peruvian Lily had about finished but it has other ideas and has a lot of buds again. What a star 😍 #peruvian-lily-indian-summer #alstromeria-indian-summer
I've a climbing rose 'Kathleen Harrop' which still has so many buds on which are flowering but it's seemingly time to prune and train it on the wires I've put up but it would be such a shame to do so at the moment @pelly
Morning everyone, have a marvellous Monday. I’m not sure what’s going on here but my Indian Summer has changed to Sunshine in my plant list 🤔 I certainly haven’t altered it. If you have this one could you check yours please? Several of my Cyclamen have changed too. Strange goings on #alstromeria-indian-summer #peruvian-lily-indian-summer
Morning again Pauline, I’ve just had to change the directory link on this as I noticed it came up as Indian Summer. Not sure what happened there. This is a dwarf one so no good for a vase but it’s very pretty nonetheless 💗 @flof1952
I had to pull some of my Peruvian Lily's as the recent rains had flattened them so I picked a few other flowers to make another of my haphazard flower arrangements #fflower-arrangement #vasefullofflowers
@pelly. Yes l will. I see you planted it in soil, well on you tube, the way l did the lettest was cut the stalk off and put in a glass of water about just covering the bottom of stalk. Like l said l had no luck. 😭😭😭
Thanks Vivien, I've never tried from seed before but I might give it a go. I've just looked at the RHS website and it says you sow immediately after the seed pod has burst, nothing about stratification 🤔 @sadieberg
Really? I wanted to split this as it's got too big for where it is but I found two sets of buds this afternoon!! #peruvian-lily-indian-summer #alstromeria-tesronto-(summer-paradise-series) #alstromeriaindiansummer 🤔
😆😆👍 I started noticing foliage this year as I've been revamping my shaded corner and it dawned on me that foliage provides a longer season of interest than flowers. 😅 The downside is that foliage plants have less to offer for pollinators so I try to combine the two.
@pelly They're already on my wishlist for next year. I've seen them in cut flower arrangements here but haven't seen the bulbs for sale. Will wait till spring bulbs come out in our catalogues. Fingers crossed!!
Yes they say to divide them every few years but I've left mine to become bigger clumps. I've got 2 of them. I have a few other orange and yellow ones which are in their first full year from very tiny plants. Hoping I can divide those in a couple of years and spread them around a bit. No winter protection needed either but I mulch with horse manure which feeds for the following year 😀
