Found this: "After about 4 or 5 years, a Bird of Paradise Plant (Strelitzia Reginae) may, on rare occasions, produce an exotic orange/red flower that resembles the head of a crane. The Strelitzia Nicolai or White Bird of Paradise will produce a blue/white version of this flower. I've got them in the garden where they get to 6m tall and form large clumps.

@brightcolours had the orange one for many years. Out during summer in basement winter. Produced many flowers each year. Found thus one while on vacation in chicago, killing time at a walmart until time for reunion.
