A cautionary tale: This is a bad infestation of what is likely fly speck scale on a rhipsalis paradoxa. This type of scale seems to mostly target bromeliads, but apparently it also likes epis and to a lesser extent mesembs. Fortunately it doesn’t seem to cause much damage though it’s quite ugly. I let this progress way longer than I should have simply because I didn’t recognize it as a type of scale at all!
