Tomato blue bayou. I seem to have fruit on at least one tomato plants quite a few of the others have flowers. These are all in my south facing window. I havent been able to move them to the lean-to to harden off for lack of space so there going to wait and go straight in the greenhouse after frost risk is gone in a few weeks.

@pelly thank you. I have to admit its a bit of a cheat as these were planted in January but there are a few smaller ones i managed to squeeze into my lean-to to harden off. I hope yours catch up soon.

I'm sure they will thanks. Mine have been in the greenhouse for quite a while so they've not been kept as warm as yours 🍅

Thank you @charlotte im hoping I will get a good crop this year. I didnt get to try the snow white tomatoes last year as the weather turned and the storms set in brining blight with it. So ive got my fingers crossed for them.

#gyo blue bayou tomato 🍅 not quite as purple / black on the inside as the inside as I hoped but they taste delicious. The more ripe the more purple the the inner bit is. Hoping for more sun as I don't think these are getting enough sun to turn completely purple / black. @jeatacake

@jeatacake Jeff it's an odd mix of dark red and the purple black. I will post a photo of one of them cut open once these are compleatly ripe. I hope it starts growing quicker for you.

Cheers Lydia. That'd be interesting to see 👍 I think mine need another decent but prolonged hot spell to get them going!

I have a bit of an issue with tomatoes as to @bussygems . I get a mild allergic reaction to them. Which is why I'm trying different coloured one ti see if it's better. I've also got orange, yellow and white (well cream) ones. I can try and save seeds from them as well if they arnt F1 hybrids

@jeatacake Jeff you can see how Pale the plant is for the snow berry tomatoes. Next to the blue bayou it looks even paler

4w
comment
jeatacake

It certainly is pale. I've just googled them & they are a pale yellow in most of the images. Just a bit lighter than Sunbaby.

4w
comment
lydiastirling

@jeatacake it will be interesting to see how these do. From the photos I've seen they look more like a pale yellow to cream than white.

4w

jeatacake

I agree. I'll await your taste test results before I rush to get any. Definitely tempted by the black ones 👍

4w
comment
lydiastirling

@jeatacake jeff the black ones are looking good. I have read that they take awhile to ripen. When I checked on chiltern seeds sight the photo they have they are dark purple to black, and have good reviews on the taste.

4w
comment
jeatacake

Sounds very promising. I heard that the black ones have more of the chemical in them that's supposed to be really good for you 👍

4w
comment
lydiastirling

I have to admit @jeatacake jeff part if the reason I'm trying so many different coloured tomatoes is because I have a allergy issue to oxidized tomatoes particularly sauces. But I love them so im trying to find ones that maybe i have less of an issue with. I'm wondering if it's the red colour as i have the same issue with beetroot.

Sun gold (orange) & sun baby (yellow) could be worth a try? Both are very tasty. I keep seeds from all my varieties from one year to another, so if you fancy trying those, I can send you some seeds 👍

I've tried 3:- Black Russian, The Darkest & Black Krim. None got black at all! 🙄 They may need heat & strong sunlight when ripening, unlike yours! 👌
