I think I finally found her happy place. She is hanging and showing #newgrowth in the #valenciaorangetree with her relatives. #tillandsia #Tillandsia-usneoides #spanishmoss #southerncalifornia #california 20 August 2018 #frombelow

According to: http://mentalfloss.com/article/67807/10-things-you-should-know-about-spanish-moss. This is actually a #bromeliad and not a moss at all. It grows on trees but is not a parasite. "The plant thrives on rain and fog, sunlight, and airborne or waterborne dust and debris." Its surface has grey scales that hold moisture (turns green) until the plant can absorb it. Flowers produce seeds and broken pieces (festoons) are ways to propagate. It should hang in a tree.

Thanks, @treefrog44 , I find it hard to grow here with a lack of humidity. I have it near the shower, so I have good expectations. ❤

Oh I looooove Spanish moss 😍 I keep it in a clear acrylic container with pebbles and water at the bottom to keep the humidity high because I've killed my fair share. @treefrog44 Theresa I'd love to trade for some Spanish moss...

@blasome It is sad the moss dies. It must not be as humid where you are. @blueheart This moss grows naturally hanging in trees and on anything it can. It is just pretty as itself. Birds like it in their nests too. Check out images on the net to see it in its natural state.
