Future home of my newest Rose bush. This #cactus #Euphorbia trigona got too much water this past Winter and the roots died. Top was still alive and top heavy. Dangerous to keep. I have this plant elsewhere, so no need to keep. #progress 19 June 2019

Thank you, Maggie. It had gotten ratty, so I am glad for the change. 💞 @gardengirlla

@lovestogarden why is it dangerous to keep?

@eklinke1983 - The cactus was about ten feet tall with the weight all at the top. The bottom was dead. One plant had already fallen over. If you scroll over, you can see the hole plant.

@kimguy this is the whole beast. I planted it in 2012 under this window after two friends of my son thought it would be funny to break in through this window and decorate his bedroom. I was pretty miffed and thought thorns would deter them in the future. Apparently my anger alone was enough to change their attitude. 👏 #euphorbia-cowboy #euphorbia #succulent #euphorbiaingens #cactus #huge

This is huge Janice! No thorns just a look that could kill from Mom!😂😂😂😂💘😍

Yep! They couldn't look at my eyes for months. 😊❤ @ShelleySnyder

Good work mom!!😂😂😉💘😍

Never mess with mom's or aunties. Lol.❤ @lovestogarden @ShelleySnyder

@kimguy there's a fact if there ever was one!!💘😍

@lovestogarden... that is huge... and, oh... those boys...( I wonder if you son remained friends with them..)?

@nancyanne they are not bad boys they were just young and stupid. Both are in Med school. ❤💕

Well it sure heard your thoughts and grew up nice and big for you. Looks great 😊💕

Thank you @terrimclaughlin !

What? Wowza!

I found two seed pods on this #euphorbia today. #firsttime #euphorbia-cowboy #cactus #succulent 02/28/2018

How tall is this guy?🌵 @lovestogarden

Kim, it is above my house eves so I am guessing it is about 10'+ tall. @kimguy

Wow!!! That is so cool @lovestogarden

That's so big!

Yes, it is about 8' tall and growing!

Is an Euphorbia Trigona
Today's project begins the removal of this giant #Euphorbia trigona. I noticed this week the walkway at its base has cracked and is raising dangerously. It is #HUGE ! The top of the #cactus is as tall as the peak of my single story home. I will put a bunch out for people to take. It will take a lot of time to remove it all. #euphorbia-trigona #southerncalifornia 30 September 2022
Wow, I guess it's true that #euphorbscanlooklikeanything
Holy Moly! That’s enormous! How will you cut it down and will you save a piece of the top for yourself!
😲
How sad🌞
Folks don't realize how big some cactus can get unless they live or lived where they are native, do they?
That is so true! @emch
Katy, I have multiples of this, so I am not going save anymore. I have to take a hatchet to the branches slowly, as the weight of them is high. I will be laying out a bunch for free takers and the smaller or damaged pieces will be put in my yard-waste barrel over time. The thorns just destroy me and it is next to a wooden fence I want not to damage. It will be a long job. @gjones
The nice part, @sunlovin , is that I will have the branches out free for many to take. Lots of people like to have the huge pieces to plant. 😎💞
It is true, Leslie, and some of us forget too 🤣. I sure didn't think the would outgrow this area I planted this in, probably ten +/- years ago. @lesliecole49
Do you live near LA? I don't remember, @honestgreensco (Steve) might be interested in some of them if they don't go quickly
It sounds like a huge job! Be careful and take it slow😊
