Inside this clump of Agave is a sprinkler hub.

It grew around the sprinkler? Wow

Yes, Eve. Well, actually I have not found the pipe yet, just the sprinkler hub. While digging the roots, I will be on the lookout. @juffertje-in-het-groen

A.K.A. Sentry Plant for good reason: Top thorn is 1.25", side thorns face each other and the mature leaves measure just over 4'! The tallest plant was 5' tall at about 10 years old. I counted about 40 pups around this. #centuryplant #agaveamericana #succulant #cactus

in Palm Beach Fl. A few of the mansions had those planted under all the windows. We commented how brilliant it was to plant those, cheap burglar deterrent...

It took me a few hours with my neighbor's chainsaw. Now I have hives everywhere the sap touched me and two very large punctures. I guess it is getting back at me. FYI, the sap is "highly poisonous when ingested and causing severe skin irritation" with contact. #centuryplant #succulent #agaveamericana

8w

I think I will add more Succulents and mix in some hollyhocks, geraniums and a few large rocks to make it more interesting. First I have to fix the sprinklers as this cactus has encased/broken a fair bit. @SikoMa

Do not be sad at my demolition. My neighbor has a baby that will be walking soon and this was WAY TOO DANGEROUS to leave. I was going to trim and fence the largest, but that would have been an invitation. I plan to keep the one that is still standing and put it in a pot.

OK, I'll say it... Or your neighbor could teach their child to stay in their own yard or to stay away from "bad things." You're so much nicer than I am.

Dar, I just know that if my boys were young, out it would come. As painful as the thorns are to be punctured with and the hives,....enough. This is worse than "bad", it is "evil"! @SikoMa

I hear ya. There is lots of evil in this world, we can't destroy it all, but we can try to avoid it an learn to stay away from it. OK, I'm sorry Janice. I am done preaching on your post. I hope I didn't offend you. I am sorry if I did. You are a sweet person.

I don't know about me being sweet, Dar, but no, you did not offend me at all. I am for not building a bubble world for children, but they do need rules and a wold to become wise in. Too many safety net are going to leave a generation unprepared for the future. These safety playgrounds are ridiculous. Really, no merry-go-round!?! Ok, whose is preaching now?!! @SikoMa 😀
