I left a few of my lilies a bit too long before deadheading 😬 do they produce seeds or do I just remove them?

I would deadhead them. They do produce seed but it weakens the plant

I'd deadhead it. They're known as being a bit of a garden thug so anything you can do to keep them under control would be good. ☺

#daylily-advice

I've done both and haven't noticed any weakening of the plant. If you save this seed pod, let it dry until it splits open and the seeds fall out easily. I've had daylilies for years and years and the clump gets bigger every year but they've never become invasive.

I’ve never tried from seed before but it’s worth a go - I’ve not known mine to be a problem, in fact this year they seem to have retracted rather than spread but I’m putting that down to lack of water 💦

@joanboston @ublaszko thank you for the advice 😊

@gjones thank you ☺️ these day lilies are almost as old as me so hopefully they’ll withstand going to seed just the once 😛

@richard.spicer.7906 I’m going to give it a go with a couple 😁 trying to improve my propagating so nothing ventured... wish me luck 😉
