Looks like a magnolia

The flowers look to compact for a magnolia.... maybe a plum or a cherry? A closer shot of the blossom and/or bark would help.

I know we have a plum tree in the garden but it didn't produce any fruit last year. We've only been living here just over a year so trying to figure out what is what. I'll post a close up of the blossom.
