Just wandering what state do you live in?? I've never seen anything like that in San Antonio @terrimclaughlin
@terrimclaughlin western PA, according to the plant info on the app it's only hardy to 25 degrees. Not really the best choice for PA, but it made it thought last years mild winter. I'm not sure when the previous owners planted it.
Could you post a whole picture of the plant? We had something similar last year.
