The red beetle and its partner killed them 😢 but they didn't live to tell the tale . Other lilies ok so far 👍🏼

I'm still free of them Christine, but am checking regularly, pretty but horrible little things 😊😊😊

So sad- must be vicious little beetles!

Bought 2 of these when getting Christmas tree (oops) Red ones... look interesting!!

I bought 3 in Sepember, put them in the garage until I planted them, the smell was awful, planted them quickly, hope they look better than they smell 😁

@grandmagizzy @jaynehynesburton we planted the yellow crown imperial fritillaries in the fall. They are supposed to be pretty but not pleasantly aromatic. In fact, we planted them as a deer repellent to keep the deer away from our young Pine trees!

😁😁😁 Good idea @gjones

@gjones I was going to plant them near the back door but think they will go further down the garden now 😳

You won't be disappointed @grandmagizzy 👌🏼 - check out mine under from earlier this year under #fritillary . And as @gjones says, they can be a bit potent as they break through the soil. I tend to find the smell wears off after about a couple of weeks. They don't like to sit in water so give them plenty of drainage, and perhaps plant the bulbs on their sides - they have a little hole in the top which is at risk of collecting water and will cause rot. Planting on side avoids this 👍🏼

Thanks @richard.spicer.7906 that's really helpful 👍🏼
Nasty red beetle got this last year fingers crossed this year !!! #fritillary #fritillariaimperialisrubramaxima
