#advice-lavender please. I read that I should cut lavender back now, no matter even if it's still flowering and looks ok. Monty says it depends on location. I'm confused. I'm still enjoying the lavender and I'm a bit loathe to cut it back.
Hi Deborah, I do mine in two stages. I cut the flowers off when they have faded, so not for a while yet, then I trim it back harder in the spring once it is starting to sprout again. I can’t remember where I read to do it this way but it is doing well. I’ll tag you in a before/after. Btw, where in Cumbria are you? Is it pouring down again?!
Thanks @anges and @awomanonabike, I'm in Whitehaven up on the cliffs so it's usually rather windy. Its rained rather a lot again today. I believe the forecast is looking better though after today. About time too. 😊
I'm sure I remember Monty prunning his lavender the same way as Jacqueline @awomanonabike He says that giving lavender only a light trim in autumn protects it from winter frost. I cut my rosemary and thyme in spring and give them a hard prune, a couple of leaves above the old wood.
