I try to rescue plants too but bought lots last year and haven't planted yet my husband has been ill and passed in Jan this year. He loved our garden therefore must roll up my sleeves and get cracking.

Help me identify this plant

I'm afraid it's going to be quite difficult without the flower !

This looks like one of the simple succulents i.e. hen and chicken succulent - Jovibarba Hirta "rollers". They group together and "chicks" (young plants) form on top until they break off and roll away (aka rollers) forming a new plant.
