Why does it have yellow leaves?? Will it be alright?

Any chance it's sitting in wet soil? I reckon they like soil that doesn't hold onto moisture because mine is bone dry and only gets watered when it rains.

@ublaszko hmm not really, if anything its very dry soil as i had to chop up a few tree roots in order to prise the soil open

Perhaps you damaged the roots by accident? Or it's underwatered? Is it new?

@ublaszko We bought it in October and it sat in its pot until spring when we got it out and planted it by a fence. We then dug it out because a plant by the gate was accidently killed off and we needed our privacy, plus another plant had grown up next to it and we thought we'd keep it (since discovered that this was elder, which we need to get rid of soon). The roots had grown out of the pot shape slightly when we dug it out but it seemed to be fine, and its been a few weeks since planting.

Its possible I damaged the roots but I don't remember anything in particular. I read somewhere theure suppoded to do this in spring but my neighbour has one and i havent seen it do this.

I think it probably needs more water since it hasn't had a chance to establish yet so it won't be drought - tolerant until next year. Keep the soil moist but let the top inch or two dry out between watering. 👍 It's probably just stressed out.

Good luck! I hope it recovers soon. 😊 They can be a bit sulky but given good care they recover successfully ☺

Moved the ceanothus yesterday infront of the fence for a little more privacy.
