Thank you @columbiariver and @gjones ! I'm not sure what's eating them, but I just love this clematis. The color is a nice one. Many more buds to bloom yet. Hopefully whatever is snacking on them will move along soon!

The grasshoppers were eating mine last year, so we're the rabbits until I fenced it off. Neem oil helped

Yes neem oil works wonders. You could try spraying some diluted soapy water on it.

Finally! My clematis is showing new growth! I planted her a couple months ago. She bloomed once and hasn't grown at all. I was starting to think I should move her, but this morning I see signs of growth. So happy! #clematis #new-growth #growth #purple #yay

@cyndi I covered the bottom with mulch and moved some of my Creeping Jenny onto it. Hopefully it will take off and grow to keep the roots cool. It gets shade and sun. I am just so excited that it is finally growing! I was almost convinced it was going to die.
