Hey I’m a gardener in Michigan with a passion for native plants. I want to help make the seeds more available. My focus is on MSU’s native plant list.

Been moving these and transplanting the around the base of the black cherry tree. They're starting to get orange mold though #dwarfmallow #cheeseweed #transplant #orangemold

Unfortunately it’s just been announced that GardenTags is closing down on 9 June 2025. See details in @TeamGardenTags post 26 May 2025.

Here are ways to stay in contact with others if you’d like to. 1. Exchange email addresses and/or Instagram user names and/or Facebook user names. 2. Join the Facebook group: GT Garden Friends https://www.facebook.com/share/g/16eURpAGz9/?mibextid=wwXIfr 3. Download the Grownotes app = lets you track plant progress! 4. Those in the UK are also downloading the Iris app which I’m told has a similar feel to GardenTags.

I rehydrated some dirt pods from failed crops last year and this happened. I think these are all from my dwarf mallow that never germinated. Interested to see what they grow into and the implication, seems like I may have stumbled on a new method for breaking dormancy.

These do bloom more if you deadhead them, still no luck on sprouting the seeds, though they look green now so I’m thinking I should have scarified them #deadhead #cheeseweed #native #mallow #michigan

@columbiariver that’s awesome! Thank you for sharing. I love finding uses for the plants here. I’ll have to scarify the next batch

Found another dwarf mallow growing undisturbed, looks like they can get pretty big in the right conditions #mallow #white #dwarf #wildflower

Already gone to seed, probably would have benefited from being deadheaded (or mowed more) #cheeseweed #mallow #wildflower #groundcover #native #michigan

Help me identify this plant, low growing, small five petal white flowers, possibly a weed, what looks like seeds growing in tiny pale-green pumpkin shapes, found in yard, Michigan

Plant Net suggests several kinds of wild Mallows, including Dwarf Mallow. I have spotted these in the parking lot at work (also in Michigan).
