Could very well be the case (a nearby underground steam pipe for the building had burst 1.5 yrs ago). Although we've also had some fairly cool nights and other trees are also beginning to shift.

Lack of enough water, if you've had drought, will cause changes too. I love the color changes, but I hate what they precede
