@cowdenkyle yea I saw some gigantic ones on Hilton Head island a year ago and feel in love with them. The leaves were almost a foot wide!

Just curious why is it called leopard? Where's the spots 🐆

@heatherdirtyhands it's a strange name, for sure. Other farfugium have yellow patches on the leaves that kinda look like spots (Google leopard plant) but this variety doesn't have the spots.

The king is dead, long live the king. The last original leaf that was on the plant when it arrived has been killed off and replaced with new growth. The baby leaf I was so crazy about a couple weeks ago is in the center. @cyndi I've been moving it up on to a table at night, and up until now it hasn't been molested (dumped out of its pot). I thought surely it should be safe during the daytime!! At least it seems not to have been very tasty. A cage is a good idea -- thanks. And it just so happens I trash-picked some chicken wire mesh the other day.

Could have been a grasshopper or something like it... no problem maybe destiny knew you would need it soon ...

Woke up this morning and found something had overturned this pot and dumped out my baby. 😠😡 And I know it wasn't just the wind because the coffee filter I put in the bottom of the pot to keep soil from falling out was on the ground with a big hole in it.

Anyway, I tucked baby back into the pot all snug and safe again. And after being in the shade all day yesterday, the big leaf has firmed up a bit more and is becoming a bit concave -- an improvement despite being yanked out of bed in the middle of the night.

I also contacted the seller and he mentioned that the 6 hours of morning light might have been a shock to a shade loving plant that had been in total darkness for a week while it traveled through the mail.

Let it "outgrow" the pot first. That way you can set the pot in different spots till you find a place you like it at. Then if its grown big enough it might be able to divide a little to set some in another pot for i side that way you can milch some outside very well and have a safety 😉 set aside just incase best wishes hope.you had a fantastic birthday 🎂
