I have mostly houseplants and cacti. I'm a beginner doing constant research, trying not to kill anything. USDA zones 8a and 8b.

Peperomia caperata 'Rosso'

Should I cut off these yellow leaves? The plant is so bushy, I don't think I could cut very close to the base. Could this be caused by water logging? I think the soil she's potted in may be holding onto water way too long. I'm considering repotting her in succulent mix. #plant-advice #yellow-leaves #houseplant-advice

I'd repot her in a succulent mix or at least a relatively free draining mix. When I repotted mine, the yellow leaves dropped off on their own so you may not need to cut them.

I ALWAYS cut off yellow leaves even if they have a little brown. Thats just me but I dont want them to drain energy from a healthy plant otherwise plus if it doesnt look nice I dont want it lol

I agree with @heatherdirtyhands never a bad idea to prune leaves with bad spots/spent leaves. on the soil, repotting probably wouldn’t hurt but you could also just reduce waterings, and wait till warmer weather to disturb it if you really want it repotted. I don’t know peps, but those could simply be old leaves dying. Maybe ones that got a little damaged on your travel home as well. If peps are a tropical, i’m not sure I’d do a succulent mix. I hope it does okay whatever ends up happening! 🍀🐶

This is the other plant I bought today. It's tiny and adorable. I think I got the id correct, let me know if I'm wrong! I need to name them both now. #peperomia #peperomiacaperata-rosso #houseplant

I honestly thought it was maybe pipe cleaners stuck in there in some attempt at attracting buyers. Like the plastic flowers they glue on cacti. I’ve seen so much weird stuff like that, using glued-together rocks rather than dirt, ornaments, glitter, paint, companies do all kinds of stuff like that xD Super cool though, I may have to get a peperomia myself now because thats easily the most unique bloom ive ever seen. 🌈

@heelerpup Oh I hate when they glue rocks and fake flowers to plants. And spray painted aloe is everywhere now! But I love weird looking plants the most.
