I am a city gardner in zone 5/6. Dramatic temp swings in this area with cold winters, and hot summers. Love to grow my own fruit and veggies!

We had a rhubarb flower and the flower stalk was 4+ ft tall

@saco You don't remove your flowering stalks?

@travelgirl25 - I always remove mine! I have never left mine on! 🤔

Me too @KariSamuel ! They take energy away from the plant. I'd rather have edible stalks and not flowers.

@travelgirl25 - I don't think I have ever seen one IN flower!

@KariSamuel I don't think I have either. I don't let mine get that far along.

@travelgirl25 I haven’t either. I believed that it made the rhubarb bitter or stringy.

I usually don't do anything with my rhubarb anyway, I just grow it for looks, but maybe I should use it not let it go to waste @travelgirl25 @KariSamuel @pixierose

@saco Google a recipe for "old fashioned rhubarb pudding cake." People who don't normally like rhubarb have tried that recipe and they have loved it! There are so many recipes you can make with rhubarb.

@saco 😨😲😨 - My favorite way, as a child, was straight from the garden dipped in raw cane sugar! 🙃 It is great raw in salads, fruit salsa and fruit dips. Cooked in cakes, muffins, pancakes and bread. Frozen to use for later. Cooked down for jelly, jam or ice cream sauce. I sound like Bubba from Forrest Gump! Bubba Gump Shrimp! 🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤 But seriously a #goodforyou plant!
