Well would you look at that! Not only have I managed not to kill a house plant - 9 months and counting...but it has flowered! Perfect timing as I probably haven't got any left in the garden! (Slight exaggeration! 🙈) #houseplant #orchid
Oh I'm not expecting this to live long Marilyn! My track record with houseplants is abysmal! 🙈 I'm determined this time though and @Christos has given me loads of info on how to look after them! 😁👍🏼 @lovemygarden65 and I am fascinated by @wesleybrian 's airplants...🤔😊
@rachelbrooks Keep it in a warm, but not too warm, room. It won't mind if it cools down at night. Lots of natural light. Water well when the medium is fairly dry. Half fill a container with water (I use a decorative pot). Allow the water to come to room temperature. Place the plant in the water and leave for 15 minutes. Leave it to drain very well...
@rachelbrooks After flowering reduce the watering and place the plant in a bright but cool room. Leave it to rest. This will stimulate new flower bud formation. Keep it slightly on the drier side until the buds start to form then slowly start to increase the water, return to normal watering when the buds are fully formed. When the first flower opens return it to warmer conditions. Enjoy and smell the flowers first thing in the morning. They are fragrant.
