Well I'm no help anyway, have searched for the name and I can't find it! Sure I had the label! Tried googling it and Autumnal blue rings a bell, but that means this would be early 😏 @jeatacake

Don't worry Rach. I'm happy just knowing it's a ceanthus & in flower after the dark one has finished 😊

Me too, another one I've had in a previous garden (the same one as the roses)... it grew to a great size then one year it suddenly died. This was when I used to open for ngs, and I quickly had to find something to fill the space. Chose cornus controversa, which was great, but I moved out a year later! Xxx

3w
comment
rachelbrooks

Well I didn't realise till the other day (can't remember who on here told me 🙄) that they don't have a particularly long life span! How gutting though and that you didn't get to see the Cornus )that's the wedding cake one..?) in its glory 😥 same happened with our old garden - just re landscaped it and planted everywhere and then 18 months later we moved. I often wonder what it looks like now 😏 @clipperty

3w

Yes the wedding cake. Such is life when we have to say goodbye to the old and hi to the new... Drove past the garden - the front, where the arch had been, was ripped out and replaced by 4 hideous looking palms. In a subsequent front garden, which was postage stamp size but won local awards, it was paved over. Never look back, as they say 😱😱 xx

3w
comment
rachelbrooks

Oh god! I would've cried! 😥😥 no, perhaps better not to go back then! @clipperty

3w
comment
clipperty

Did have a lump in my throat - I'd have had the arch back!!! God knows what they did to the back garden. In the end you just think 'that was then, this is now, onwards and upwards'! NB - note to self, get a ceonothus! There's a beauty in the house opposite, their front garden so I get to see that in the spring xx
