Morning everyone. It's taken four years to get buds on my #columbine-chocolate-soldier, I'm so looking forward to seeing it in flower at last 💂🤎🤎

@pelly ..... This is brilliant Jane ..... More photos please when in flower.

Gosh Jane that's been a long wait ....definitely going to be worth it though 👍😯🤎

That’s great Jane 🤗

Must look out for mine when we get home. Mine are in the ground so not sure if they are through yet

🤞🤞🤞

Oh sounds delicious 🤎

Thanks very much John. I'll definitely post when in flower 🤎 @johninbrighton

It has Pauline. Several times I thought that I'd lost them, they're definitely not the easiest of plants 🥰 @flof1952

Thanks very much Enid. They've been very troublesome 🥰 @godfreye

Look forward to seeing it in flower

Sounds interesting 🤔 hopefully worth the wait too 😁

Cataloguing. It’s taken four months for these seedlings to get to this size. I really thought I’d failed. Now to keep them alive!!! #aquilegia-chocolate-soldier #columbine-chocolate-soldier 🤎

That’s a good start Jane...fingers crossed 🤞🏼

They will die down over winter Jane, like all aquilegia, then come up again in spring🤞🤞

Thanks Elaine, definitely 🤞🤞🤞 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

Oh I didn’t think about that 🙄Should I leave them in their pots or get them in the ground before winter do you think Joan? 🤔 @joanboston

I would leave them in the pots for the first winter Jane, somewhere sheltered, then you know where they are😂

I grew aquilegia from seed last year and they did well in the same kind of pots over winter and flowered the following spring. Only had one flower each this year.

Thanks Joan, I'll do that 👍 @joanboston

Thanks Urszula, I'm just hoping I can keep them 🤔 @ublaszko

I too have grown these from seed this year and they definatly grow very slowly.

How big are yours now Joan? 🤔 @joannie.a
Morning everyone. This is the first time my #aquilegia-chocolate-soldier has flowered. It was #grown-from-seed and was a seedling in September 2020. Was it really worth all the hassle I wonder 🙄😂🤎
At least you have the satisfaction of knowing you stuck with and did get it to flower
It was definitely worth it….🫶🏼
There is that I suppose Joan. They've given me a lot of heartache along the way though 🤎 @joannie.a
Thanks Elaine. It took some doing 🤎 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Must look at mine, but I’m not hopeful😂
Will look to see if mine is up yet
I kept mine in the greenhouse over winter, I think that helped 🤔 @Auricula @joanboston I’ve got my fingers crossed for yours 🤞
Oh .. I have to agree Jane 😑
Thanks Julie, at least I achieved it in the end 🙄😂 @juliesgarden
Patience, optimism and perseverance…you certainly meet all those criteria Jane!
Thank you Angela, I can assure you that's not usual. More like bloody minded 😂 @italydiva
