Hibiscus Syriacus 'Red Heart'

Not an exciting photo for you but, exciting for me. I didn't know until today that I had two buds on this. As summers behind us, I didn't expect her to flower this year. I'm hoping for some sun to bring those buds out ♥️♥️what a super sight that would be ♥️♥️

My Rose of Sharon gets covered in buds, and each year I watch as they slowly rot and drop off. She was on her final warning his year, has about 70 buds and one is (almost) possibly about to maybe open!! Just no sun at all ☹

Hope it opens in time. One I have has its first ever bud, but I'm worried it'll never open before winter comes 🙏

Well........ oh me of little faith! Just been out to have another look at it and would you adam and eve it, it's opening. Will get a photo when fully open 😁💜

I have one of these. They need a very sunny & sheltered spot. Can't wait to see it in flower 👍

@jeatacake What type of soil do they like Jeff? I moved a Camellia to place this one ♥️♥️

I don't think they're fussy re acid or alkaline soil, but prefer it well drained I think, but sheltered & sunny are vital for flowering.

@jeatacake Thank you Jeff. When my Orange Emperors have finished I think I'll move it there. That was my intention to put it there but it would have meant disturbing too much. That is a sheltered spot and good soil there. I had a look for yours but there was so much to go through. I was back to your days in Bangkok 😀

Oh I've never put a photo of it on here as the darn thing has never flowered yet, grrr! Its leaf buds are just opening & a couple of other things have flowered for the first time just recently.
