My Southern California (zone 10a) garden has all kinds of plants mixed together; roses, ferns, succulents, vegetables,....

We have had some high winds and this #Opuntia sabulata finally fell. Each #cactus pad is so heavy. I had to take the big bow saw to the stalk to cut it up. #opuntia-sabulata #startingover #collage #southerncalifornia 7 January 2020

Oh no hope not too many casualties? But then again it might help in producing more babies pups 😊

Laura, the right tools helped. It will be awhile before it is all picked up. The pieces are so heavy getting them moved will take awhile. 💪 😂 @columbiariver

@suerichards and @jaynehynesburton thank you. She had gotten rather top heavy, so I will propagate some pads and off we go. 💞

@QT there will be many propagated from this and only pots knocked about. 👍💗

Such a shame when well established plants get destroyed.

Yes, Katy, but I will say it grows fast an was totally out of control. My son put it there before the Orange tree was planted, so it was always reaching for more sun. I will plant some huge pieces in more sun. @gjones

Check out the size of this paddle! I had to trim the prickly pear cactus away from the Orange tree. Yes, that is my giant foot. #succulent #cactus #pricklypearcactus #pricklypear

Yes, I have eaten salsa made from the paddles. Very tasty, as is the tuna (fruit) they produce. @KariSamuel

Check out the size of this #pricklypear ! About 20" long! It was an old piece, so there is a good amount of #corking .

Liam, this is the backside of my standing Prickly Pear. The bottom of the photo is at 6' (1.8 meters). This is taken from my neighbor's side of the fence. @Opuntia

Yep, Michelle, and I didn't get all of it in the photo, and had just cut a bunch off of it! I did not know it was growing so much on my neighbor's side. 😊. Nice to hear from you again. Keep feeling better. 🙏 @purplebird

Liam, this is the other cactus that still remains. I do not have a photo of the other cactus before (except for the one I posted of the mushrooms at the base). These photos were as good as I could get, sorry. @Opuntia
