My Southern California (zone 10a) garden has all kinds of plants mixed together; roses, ferns, succulents, vegetables,....

Laura, any idea why your beautiful #prayerplant cutting keeps this size and never has any more leaves. As soon as the fourth leaf starts, the oldest leaf starts browning. I need your help. @columbiariver #houseplant #teapot #southerncalifornia #california 22 February 2019

Maybe it is getting too much sun or the air is too dry. Try relocating it to the bathroom for a while to get more humidity.

Lovely pot btw. Does it have drainage?

Mine likes indirect light or shade and not too much water, if that helps

They need indirect but bright light. Good drainage and I only water when the soil is dry. They are picky plants. Took me forever to get this plant in right condition but now she's thriving! Xoxo

They like rain water too instead of tap water 😊

I've never had one of these but I had the very same issue with a peace lily. One new leaf one dead leaf. Repotted various other tries, I'm at the point where I'm going to throw it out. My other peace lily, on the other hand, is doing great! Huh, Good luck.

Well, I guess the leaves might not be overly happy, but I just saw she is putting up a new shoot! I will be looking at all your sweet light and moisture ideas and see if I can make her happier. @betsybee @Sussanah (yes, she has drainage) @Mikekally @cyndi @angiecrazycatlady @lesliecole49 Thank you all!

Hi Janice. I know they like to be watered often. It doesn't take a lot of water, but hit it about every 3 or 4 days. Mine has always had indirect sunlight. That's just my experience with the one I have. I hope it starts to grow for you. Once they get going they tend to get pretty big. Try a nice all around fertilizer if you haven't already. Xoxo

The tip of the leaves brown when allowed to dry out...in my experience.

Thank you Laura! I have fertilized it, but I tend to not water it consistently, I shall do better. The shoot that I just saw tells me she is happy! @columbiariver

You are very welcome, Maribel. It seems to be a fast grower. I put her in a self-watering pot, and she is quite happy. @mardel

She is looking better everyday, Laura. All the leaves curled and I got frightened, but they seem to be uncurling. @columbiariver the leaves are really beautiful. Thank you again for your sweetness. #prayerplant #houseplant #gifted #giftfromcolumbiariver #propagation #propagation-leafcuttings 💗

She'll be fine. She should start to show some roots soon. This one is variegated which is kind of fun. Not sure how it got that way because I didn't buy it that way. These are fairly low maintenance. They like indirect sun so they're easy to find a place for inside. I hope she perks up for you soon.

Laura, she is much perkier today. There is new growth and although two leaves have browned, she looked very healthy. 👏👏💗 @columbiariver
