My clematis has no signs of buds. Any ideas why this might be please? 🤔🤔 thank you 😊😊

Which one is it Lexi? Is it a young plant? Could be a later flowerer...

3w

hayleyaj

Give it a feed with tomato feed as they love that and it will promote flowering. Make sure you water it well every day too. If this doesn't doesn't do the job, it could be in the wrong position as it looks healthy but may require more sun or shade 😊😊

It's been there for years & has always given a great show of flowers. I did cut it back last year as there was so much tatty old wood. Wonder if that may be the reason? 🤔🤔 @rachelbrooks @hayleyaj

A couple of mine are same Lexi noticed few buds yesterday so im going to feed mine to encourage more I think again it is to do with dry winters now flowering later 🙄

I did exactly the same with one of mine last year (well...I pulled it out trying to untangle it from a climbing rose!) and could've cried as it was in full bloom! By the Autumn it had grown loads and flowered for ages!! I think they're so resilient! 👍🏼👍🏼

I had to pull this about as well. It was entangled with another clematis that flowers at a different time. I was really nervous doing it as I'm not too confident with pruning 😬. I'm living & learning all the time 😁 @rachelbrooks

I've been meaning to cut this clematis back for a couple of years. I wasn't well enough last year & had to leave it. So glad to have finally done it lol. I'll clear the bed a bit better tomorrow & plant a few new bits 😉

@lovemygarden65 @susieg it had got so out of hand. I felt guilty doing it but I know it's for the best. I'm sure the clematis will come back healthier. It also gives me space to plant some new bits too 👌🏼😉

Well exactly! I chopped back a clematis a few weeks ago to make way for a wisteria and thought I'd killed it but it seemed to live it and gave me a second flush! 🤗🌸🌺
