Just for you, Rachel, the label from the Pineapple Sage showing that it is indeed winter flowering! It says “treat as a conservatory plant” but mine is still outside and it’s thriving, possibly because we haven’t had a great deal of cold weather here in West Sussex. @rachelbrooks 😘 #sage #plantinfo #winterinterest
Well you know that old gardening adage, Rach ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way’! So I’m sure it can be slotted into your Jardin without too much ado... #waxinglyrical @rachelbrooks #Claude’soffherrocker x x x
The label does say it’s winter flowering but I didn’t believe it, Rachel! It looks far too tender to withstand cold weather, although it is in a pot in a sheltered position by a SW facing wall. @rachelbrooks 😘
#notetoself Always read the plant label!!! I’ve waited all summer for this to flower only to discover that it flowers in winter and should be treated as a conservatory plant 😢 #salvia #scarletflowers #containergarden #herbs
Not to worry. I live in the North of England and the university here has a couple of pineapple sage plants. They both stay outdoors all year and flower for months. They are in raised beds and they were mulched with compost 2 weeks ago. They are in flower now and we already had frost earlier this week.
