Earlier in the year I collected some seeds from my #pittosporum and sowed them in a little pot as an experiment. I think they might have germinated! #seed #newplants #mygardentoday #greenhouse 💚

Yay, well done Barbara 👏👍😍

Looks like it! 👍

The pot has been in an out of the way place in the garden since I sowed them. I’ve moved it into the greenhouse now so that I can keep an eye on the seedlings as I don’t know how hardy they are. 🤔 @pelly @lesliecole49

Good plan 👌

Good luck Barbara 🤞🍀

Thanks Shona 😘 As they germinated so well I have high hopes for their future!

Well that’s great - I’ve never even noticed seeds on mine

Have you ever seen tiny flowers on yours, Sharon? The seeds are inside but they’re often so small that you don’t notice them. @sharonhayden 😀

I do have flowers- will have to look closer next year- can I take cuttings?

I’ve never tried cuttings but I believe they’re easy enough. 🤞 @sharonhayden

I’m going to give it a go but I imagine it will go slow! 😂

I’ve had the greatest difficulty posting anything today as I keep being timed out. Is there a problem @ukgardentags @teamgardentags 🤔 #foliagefriday #pittosporum #flowerbuds #evergreen 💚

Mine has been fine 🤔

I was not able to access any posts other than my own for 2 days. I restarted my computer and it’s working now.

@jacaranda I had the exact same problem last week, I had to log out and back in again and it seems to be fine since then. :-)

Lovely. I miss my pittosporum’s 😔

I thought I’d include this in #treetuesday to show that with a little imagination (and not a great deal of skill 😂) you can transform an ordinary shrub into something more interesting. #pittosporum #shaping #feature #mygardentoday 💚

Swipe ⬅️ to see the various stages in its growth and shaping 💚

Gosh. Impressive

Great job, Barbara @jacaranda 👏😍

Love that idea 👍😘

Beautiful view

Great idea - I’ve raised the canopy on a few of my shrubs- I saw it when I went to NT gardens a few years ago - as established shrubs get wider and wider

I do it to lots of mine, Sharon, especially those towards the back of the border as it gives me more planting space 👍😘 @sharonhayden

Great job Barbara. That looks really well.

#newgrowth on the #pittosporum This is such a versatile shrub especially during the winter months when it sparkles in the sunshine ☀️ #evergreen #evergreenshrub #variegated #mygardentoday 💚

I have a berry/seed on my #pittosporum 😃 If I put it in a little pot do you think it will sprout? 🤔🤞 #seed #propogation #mygardentoday 💚

It's got to be worth a try Barbara 👍

Think it will take a very - they’re slow 🐌

Always worth a go 👍🏻

Thank you ladies. I’ll pop it into a little pot tomorrow and then keep my fingers crossed!!! @pelly 😘 @sharonhayden 😘 @juliesgarden 😘

Another job ticked off the list ✔️ It might need a bit of tweaking over the coming days but the general shape is fine. #pittosporum #keepingbusy #mygardentoday

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

#pruning #beforeandafter

Great work 👏👏👏

The shape is lovely now. Nice and neat 😊😊🌼🌼💚💚

I didn’t realise this grew so big 🤔, looks so neat after its trim 👍

Thanks Debra. It responds well to pruning so it can be kept to the size and shape that you want. 💚 @debs69

Thanks Barbara , that’s worth knowing @jacaranda 😉

It’s generally regarded as a foliage plant but in the spring you’ll see tiny burgundy flowers appearing. #foliagefriday #pittosporum #burgundyflowers #evergreen #flowerarranging #mygardentoday

Aren’t they lovely Barbara 😍

I used to have a variegated one & the fragrance from those little flowers was amazing! 😍

They are, Sarah, a real delight! @sieveheadsarah 😘

Maybe time to get another one, Leon? When we’re able to get out and about, of course!!! 🤣😘 @Leroybe

@jacaranda yes unfortunately not much room for one now,but I think there is a small one called Tom Thumb? So when I get the chance you never know! 😊

There are one or two small ones, Leon, and even the larger ones can be kept in check with careful pruning. 👍 @Leroybe

These are the tiniest flowers and so insignificant that unless you get really close you could miss them. #pittosporum #upclose #purpleflowers #mygardentoday 18/04/2019

They’re a gorgeous colour. Love the dark against the glossy green 😍

Ah brilliant! Dad has one of these in his garden and neither of us knew what it was! 😀

Happy to help, Ian 👍 @bigemrg

The deed is done! With the help of my garden mate Sabina @frootjuz we have transformed an ugly out-of-control shrub into something far more interesting! It will be a #workinprogress for quite a while but at least the process has begun. #pittosporum #pruning #mygardentoday 21/05/2018

Which is the squirrels head.....😉😘

Looks fab 😀👍🏼😀

Wait and see, Elaine, wait and see 🤣🤣 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom 😘

@jacaranda I can’t wait..🤣🤣

Well done Barbara. Hope you’re taking it easy now 😘

Great job Barbara and Sabina 👍👍

Thanks Lexi. It was great fun to create and the only problem was knowing when to stop 🤣🤣 @lexijane

😂😂 bless your heart. I bet you’ll sleep well tonight 😴

Wish me luck! Tomorrow I’m going to attempt to prune this #pittosporum as it’s grown far too big. I haven’t yet decided on the shape but it could be triangular or round. There again I might take the lower branches off and try to get an umbrella shape or a lollipop shape. #mondaymotivation #pruning #howbravewillibe

Ooh good luck with that, pictures plz @jacaranda

Will do @brighton

Sounds like a mug of tea is required 😉

Or a bottle of vino @awomanonabike

Maybe just a glass at a time 😉😂 @brighton

How about a topiary squirrel Barbara? 🤔🐿😉😘

Oh decisions decisions have fun 🤗💕💕

Good luck and please post the result Barbara 👍👍

I once done a dog but only me knew it was a dog..😄😄

I've never seen flowers on my #pittosporum before so I had to snip this small branch off so I could admire the tiny flowers at close quarters! #teenyweenyflowers #whatasurprise #mygardentoday

They're really remarkable.

Gorgeously deep Barbara!

They smell beautiful don't they? 😍💜💜
The #pittosporum is covered in tiny maroon flowers. Early last year I collected a few of the seeds and they germinated. Swipe ⬅️ to see the photo and to see how this shrub/small tree has grown and been shaped over the past few years. #upclose #evergreen #mygardentoday 💚
That’s lovely ☺️
Must go and check mine Barbara, how are the seedlings doing? I must give it a try.
The seedlings are doing well, Sarah. They’re slow growing but I’m sure they’ll become decent plants one day 🤞 I’ll be on the lookout for more seeds later in the year so that I can grow more. @sieveheadsarah
@jacaranda thanks Barbara. How are you, feeling better l hope
A lot better thanks, Gwen 👍😘 @gwenniemom
