So far this is my one and only #ripvanwinkle 😢 This one’s in a pot but as I planted more bulbs in the low wall last autumn there should be more to come 🤞 #containergarden #narcissus #daffodil-ripvanwinkle #mygardentoday 💛💚

I'll be interested to see how yours do Barbara, a lot of mine have come up blind and those that haven't aren't flowering very well. Sarah @sieveheadsarah is having the same problem 🤔💛💛

It's beautiful Barbara 💛💛💛@pelly @sieveheadsarah Oh no, I wonder why that's happened 🤔

I don't know Chris, they were fine last year 🤔 @midnightgardener

Yep just one flower on mine, last week I split them and planted them in the ground, I’ll see how they do next year, they may end up being evicted from my garden! #ripvanripoff @pelly @midnightgardener

@sieveheadsarah What a shame but I love your #ripvanripoff 😃💛💛

@pelly How odd. I know some Tulips don't come back but could it be so, of Daffs 🤔I'll see if I've got a Sarah Raven catalogue and google search it too 💛💛

I hope both of ours do better next year, they're such gorgeous flowers 🤔 @sieveheadsarah

Lovely bloom 💛

Thanks Chris, I’m not actually a fan of Daffs but I thought these were interesting so I gave them a chance 🤔🤨 @midnightgardener

We can but hope Jane 👍🏼😀😂👍🏼 @pelly

They’re such pretty flowers and I really want to have more in the garden but they’re a bit too temperamental for my liking! I’ll see what happens with the latest batch although as it’s their first year they’ll probably flower well but then do nothing next year! Time will tell 🤞 @sieveheadsarah @pelly @midnightgardener

Posting again to see if it’s correctly identified this time!

Phew, that’s a relief! My original comment was that some of the bulbs have come up blind this year so I think it’s time to transfer them from the pot to the ground. 💛 #narcissus #ripvanwinkle #springbulbs #containergarden #mygardentoday

Same as mine Barbara, I’m going to put mine in the ground as I only got 3 flowers this year, not impressed 🙄

The leaf growth is very weak and straggly and the flowers are flopping everywhere 😢 Such a pity as they’re so pretty and deserve to be admired! @sieveheadsarah

Fingers crossed they’ll be better in the ground Barbara, they’ve one more chance in my garden 👍🏼🤔

💛💛💛

You can always compare your plant to the America Daffodil Society database. It’s Daffseek.com. Rio Van Winkle always blasts on us in KY, so I’ve tossed it.

I’m thinking it’s not RVW. Let me sent it to a few friends to see if they can id it

I’m certain it’s Rip van Winkle, a very popular variety here in the U.K. I’ve been told that it does better in the ground than it does in pots so I’ll see what it’s like next year once I’ve transplanted it 🤞 @janetandjim

Yes it's properly named!! Woo hoo 💛💛very nice it is too

It’s hard to get to even bloom here. It forms the bud but never opens. It blasts. Martha Stewart recommends slightly cutting the tip of each bloom to help it open. I don’t have time for that.

My very first #ripvanwinkle flower! Lots of buds so plenty more #yellow loveliness to come in #mygardentoday 09/03/2019

Ooh lovely, I'm still waiting!!

You won’t be disappointed, Sarah 👍💛 @sieveheadsarah

I'm still waiting too!

He’s a handsome boy 💛

One looks ready to burst, so maybe tomorrow Barbara 🤔🤔

Don’t forget to post a photo when he does @sieveheadsarah

You'll be the first to know Barbara @jacaranda

Very beautiful!💕
The ‘Rip Van Winkle’ bulbs in the low wall are doing better than those in pots, but they’re all bending over. Is this because they’re top heavy? Apart from that they’re looking very pretty with the #pulmonaria 💛💙💛💜 #narcissus #narcissus-ripvanwinkle #springbulbs #jacarandawallview 💚
It seems that it's just what they do Barbara. They look lovely with the pulmonaria though 💛💙😘
I hope mine will do better next year now that they’re in the ground, yours are pretty tall Barbara
Mine are exactly the same- I think they are top heavy or the stems are weak on this variety 🤷♀️
I think you’re right, Ange 👍 The stems don’t seem very sturdy! Maybe the trick is to plant them amongst other low growing things so that they get some natural support 🤔 @anges @pelly @sieveheadsarah
They look so good together 💛💛💜💜
