#loropetalum has now been moved to the #planthospital 😂 Dead leaves taken off and damaged stems pruned ✔️ gravel removed from top and fresh compost added ✔️ liquid feed applied and gravel replaced ✔️ Now keeping everything crossed for a full recovery!!! #loropetalumchinensefiredance #containergarden #mygardentoday 💚
Mine looked like a crispy mess too and I ended up stripping all the leaves off. It has a nice framework though so it still looks good. I can see new leaf buds emerging so we just need the temperatures to go up a little. @kez001uk
🙀🙀🙀😆 They are so slow growing it would be a crime to take secateurs to them 😅 I've already lost half of the plant when Pudgy jumped over the loropetapum chasing after a bee and broke one of the main branches. @kez001uk
I’m sorry to say that this is a very sad plant 😥 It was out all winter, as it has been in previous years, but this time it was in a more exposed part of the garden and it has suffered as a result. My question is do I cut it back to remove all the damaged leaves or do I just trim off the leaves that have gone brown? @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co what would you do? 🤔 #loropetalum #winterdamage #containergarden 💚
Mine has been fine in previous years, Dave, when it was tucked up against a south facing wall well out of the wind and the worst of the weather. I don’t think it’s a gonner, but it definitely needs some TLC! 🤞 @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co
@davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co @jacaranda mine was out all winter as usual but it’s right up against the house at the back so does get a bit of shelter...anywhere else and it would have been gonna like yours...
I give up... Tried to write the comment 3x and it crashed 😔😔 I strip all the leaves individually at the end of winter instead of pruning back. They look old and tatty anyway after a year so I prefer to remove it and wait for fresh new leaves to appear.
Yesterday’s gardening jobs included rearranging some of my pots. The #loropetalum is now just outside the back door so I can admire it no matter if I’m in or out! #foliagefriday #containergarden #purplefoliage #pinkflowers
I couldn’t let #foliagefriday pass without posting a photo of the beautiful burgundy colours of #loropetalum It really is a stunner! #burgundy #burgundyfoliage #containergarden #mygardentoday 01/03/2019
The leaf colours are looking spectacular at the moment and I love the vibrantly pink ribbon-like flowers. Thanks, Claudia @clipperty for introducing me to this plant a couple of years ago. 😘 #loropetalum #loropetalumchinensefiredance #pinkflowers #greenandpurplefoliage #containergarden #mygardentoday 05/09/2018
Mine is in full sun too and it needs regular watering but actually on the label it says to keep it in partial shade. I'm just stubborn and I wanted it in sun so I could see it from my garden bench 😅 @jacaranda @HM2T
Well just look at that! A new #loropetalumchinensefiredance to replace the one that didn’t survive the winter. I’ll be more careful this time and give it some winter protection! #containergarden #maroonandpink #mygardentoday
Great plant that Rachel introduced me to. I was too late moving it into the greenhouse when we had the cold east winds and it suffered a bit but survived to see another day and I was only just admiring it 💕@rachelbrooks
A nice electric blanket and a hot water bottle then! Fingers crossed it’ll fare better ☺️ mine looked a bit poorly after the third lot of snow but I pulled all the damaged leaves off and gave it a good feed and it seems to have picked up fortunately! 😊 Glad yours is looking ok too Jacqueline 👍🏼☺️ @awomanonabike
Every time I see these gorgeous flowers I think of @clipperty 😂 Thank you, Claudia, for introducing me to this beauty! It's still a small plant but it has lots of flowers and it's looking great!!! #loropetalum #pinkflowers #mygardentoday #ngsgarden
