Our creative adventure began in 1999, a new house and a bare plot. We were part of the NGS family for 10 years. Now we’re sitting back and relaxing!

@richard.spicer.7906 here’s a collage of Elodie, photos taken today. It’s in a pot against a SW facing wall and as you can see I have two tall, straight stems but only one has flowered. At the bottom where the third bulb should be there are lots of baby foliage. I let it die back naturally last year and I fed it in the spring as it began to put on new growth. Does any of this help you? #collage #lily-elodie #ineedhelp @columbiariver

Thank you Barbara. My troubled lily is in the ground. I may not have fed it this year 🤔. I also have a pot that is full of the same lily and it has exploded with flowers. All of the ones in the pot were the tiny bulblets I took from the mother problem plant. They did not bloom the first year. Is it possible that your stems that haven't bloomed are new, from bulblets your original bulbs produced? Next year might be time for them to bloom? Just a stab in the dark 🤷🌸

I’ve read they sometimes take a while to settle in. The baby foliage will be growing from bulblets. If there is no large foliage where the third bulb should have been then it’s possible it didn’t survive and either rotted or got damaged. most bulbs form their flower buds inside the bulb the year before (rather than spring), i think the same maybe for Lillies, so it’s now you will want to feed them rather than in spring, give them feed every couple of weeks till the foliage has died.

Thanks Rich 😘 Once the flower has faded I’ll move the pot to an out of the way position and then feed regularly. What should I do about the bulblets? Leave them or remove them and pot them up? @richard.spicer.7906 😘

No problem 😊. I would leave them be for now, they will increase in size over the next couple of years. Whilst they are in active growth, keep the soil fairly moist (but not wet) and try to avoid them drying out too much while growing otherwise they can die off too quickly. I’ve realised many of my bulbs in pots die back to early if too dry, esp compared to those in the ground. Sometimes almost two months difference 😳 means the bulbs don’t regenerate well and you lose a season potentially

😢😢 Only one flower this year 😢😢 but she is beautiful 💕 What should I do once she’s flowered? There’s another lily in the pot which produced leaves but no flower and lots of baby plants where the third bulb was last year. Any advice would be appreciated 😘 #lily #lily-elodie #containergarden #lily-advice

They all did, Katie. If you scroll right to left you’ll find the first photo I posted and you can see loads of buds. ☹️😘 @brightcolours

I haven’t grown #lilies for years so, inspired by all you lovely people, I decided to give them a go this year. Elodie is the first of the lilies to open and there are loads more flowers to come! #julyblooms #asiatic-lily #mygardentoday 20/07/2019
