The seed pod and seeds of the #jacaranda tree always fascinate me. I found this one in Spain last week so I’ll store them in a paper bag over winter and sow a few next spring. #seedcollecting #holidayfind
Ooh, let me know how you get on, was thinking of doing the same myself.😯

This tree has been on my list for a few years now. I hope it grows for you 💚💚

I will, James, as long as I remember 🤣 @fisherman

I already have one Jacaranda grown from seed collected in South Africa quite a few years ago. It’s a puny specimen so I’m hoping for a better result next time 🤞@sabbanrula

I hope this one is much better Barbara 👍🏻 Now I feel more encouraged to grow one 😍

Seen one of these trees in Crete it was amazing...I hope you have some success Barbara 💜🤞🏼

I didn’t expect to see a Jacaranda in flower in October 💜 #holidayfind #spain #mauveflowers #jacaranda 10/10/2019

Here's the latest photo of my #jacaranda grown from seed I collected in South Africa a couple of years ago. It was twice this size in the autumn but it lost all its leaves in the winter (unheated greenhouse!!!) so I cut it back to 15ins in the spring. It's now doubled in height and is thriving. Good luck with the seeds I gave you @rachelbrooks @cassie26 👍👍

Very impressed with this Barbara....I have high hopes for our seeds @rachelbrooks 👍

You do know a thing or 2 about this horticulture lark don't you?! 👏👏 @jacaranda xx

I try, Claudia! Years of practice 😂😂😂 @clipperty 😘😘

Wow! With this picture you answered a question I hadn't yet asked! I just saw some beautiful trees here in Florida (I'm on vacation) and it looks like they might be yellow jacarandas. I've been collecting several seeds, but after a quick google search it doesn't look like I have found any jacaranda yet. Can't wait to see (and try) what I HAVE found, though!

Great to see yours, and despite its haircut it's looking fab! Only hope I can get a little one going! We'll have to do it simultaneously Caroline so we can compare notes! 🤓😉 @cassie26

That is looking great ! We have Jacaranda tree lined streets and gardens everywhere in Australia. We had a big one in my family home and the colour display in flower is just stunning blue. Some of My family called me Jacaranda due to my name so this tree is special. Please post pics as it grows 😍

Please post a photo of the seeds, Mona! @emve 😀

How lovely to be able to see Jacarandas in flower every year, Jacqui 😍 I envy you!!! I'll have to bring my little tree indoors for the English winter so I hope I can keep it going when it gets cold. 😘

I will! Hoping for the GT community to help me figure out what they are. I still have a few more days here, so my collection may still grow 😎

I sowed eight of these tiny Jacaranda seeds today. They will germinate fairly quickly and put on good growth throughout the summer but I can never get the plants through an English winter! 🌱🌱🤞🤞

Well done you for your efforts! That looks a beautiful plant from what I see as pics on the internet. Never seen one before though! Does it come to some height in one seasons growth? Does it flower?

Thanks for you comments, Sylvia. The growth varies depending on light and temperature. It has beautiful mauve flowers but sadly I don't think I'd ever get one to that stage! @SylviaDavies

Well done for persevering! 👏👏👏

These little Jacarandas are from seed collected in Cape Town earlier this year. #greenhouse #exotics #seedgrown
Yesterday we visited a wonderfully rustic vineyard called Jacaranda where the farmhouse is shaded by many glorious Jacaranda trees. The flowering season is over, sadly, but there were lots of seed pods, most of which had already split open and the papery seeds gone. These seed pods are about to open so with luck I should be able to harvest the seeds and sow them in the spring. 🤞 #jacaranda #seedpods #holidays #southafrica 💚
The progress with the seeds will be fascinating to watch Barbara ☺️
FANTASTIC Babs they take a very long time to grow I will put up photos of mine
How exciting Barbara. Good luck 🤞🥰
@Auricula They germinate quite easily but I can never keep the plants alive over winter, even if I bring them indoors. But I’ll keep on trying!!! 🤞
@grantham Tell me about it! I’ve tried lots of times to grow them but they just don’t like the cold weather, even though they come indoors over winter 😢😢
@pelly I think I’ll need it, Jane! 😂😂
That is exciting Barbara 😀 Fun project!
Thanks Karen. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! 😂😂 @KOutdoors
I do like a project, Laura! 👍 @columbiariver
Ooh good luck Barbara 🤞
Can't wait to see what you get
