Advice needed please! Has anyone grown these successfully? They were free with a recent bulb order but I’m not familiar with them and research has shown that they’re hit and miss in our climate. Do I put them in a pot or plant them in the garden? #ixia #plantadvice #corms 💚
I planted one last year, different variety,...it was plant rather than bulb. It grew well but I think it needs to be supported between other plants because mine tends to flop over. Doesn't it get its name because it grows between corn, which holds it up.🤔(Sure I read that somewhere)
I would put them in a pot Barbara 👍🏼 - some are not terribly hardy although I’ve not heard of this one. Mine seem ok in pots left in the polytunnel but I’m waiting for them to bulk up a bit before testing them in the garden. Most Ixia are winter growing though so they would normally be starting to grow by now - it’s another one of the SA bulbs which don’t mind the wet winters over there, but can struggle over here. Good drainage is probably the key

I put mine in the garden, they’ve not been very successful but one comes back every year. They are very floppy so will need support 👍
Thank you Celina. Maybe a pot would be a better option rather than in the ground? @cee 🤔😘
If they’re a disaster at least I didn’t pay good money for them, Jane! 🤣🤣 @pelly 😘
