The one ray of sunshine on what is a pretty depressing day is to see the first flower on ‘Firepot’. The raised vegetable bed is home to a mix of runner beans, dahlias and a few annuals so this area will be getting special treatment with the watering can once the hosepipe ban comes into effect! #dahlia #dahlia-firepot #jacarandaraisedbed 💚

Thanks to the very knowledgeable people on the National Dahlia Society’s FB page I now have the correct name for this beauty! It’s not ‘Akita’ (as supposedly supplied by a seller on eBay) but ‘Firepot’. I’ve changed the encyclopaedia link on my previous posts so all’s well! #dahlia #dahlia-firepot #jacarandacuttinggarden 💚

I bought the tubers last year from an eBay seller but I’m not convinced that they are actually ‘Akita’. They don’t match any of the photos on this site nor do they match any Google images under the same name! I added this to my #wishlist after seeing a post from @sabbanrula and then I took a gamble and ordered tubers from an eBay seller 😳 They arrived on 13th August looking very uninspiring but I potted them up and hey presto!
